The Ordinary Aloe 2% + NAG 2% Solution, recently introduced by DECIEM, is an affordable and effective addition to their serum line.
Described by Deciem as a lightweight, soothing serum designed for blemish-prone skin, this product aims to reduce post-acne marks. It incorporates ingredients that address uneven skin tone and texture, minimize the appearance of pores, and strengthen the skin barrier.
After using this serum daily for about five weeks, I wanted to share my experience.

The Ordinary Aloe 2% + NAG 2% Solution
Packaging – The product is packaged in the standard The Ordinary glass bottle with a dropper.
Formula – This water-based serum has a light texture and features three unique key ingredients not found in other The Ordinary products:
- Aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder – Known for its soothing and hydrating properties.
- N-acetyl glucosamine (NAG) – A biotechnologically derived ingredient that moisturizes and addresses uneven skin tone.
- Peptide technology palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 – Targets textural irregularities and supports the skin barrier.
How To Use – Following the product’s directions, I apply it after cleansing and before other serums, oils, or creams.
Pros:
- Absorbs easily.
- Enhances skin hydration.
- Non-greasy and lightweight.
- Reduces post-acne marks.
- Strengthens and maintains skin barrier function.
- Improves uneven skin texture and tone.
- Suitable for all skin types, especially oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin.
Con:
- Cannot be layered with direct acids and certain other products.
Overall, this serum effectively addresses post-acne marks and has become a staple in my skincare routine. Its water-based, light texture is a plus, though applying too much can make it slightly sticky. Allowing it to fully absorb before layering other products helps. I appreciate that it’s fragrance-free and notice that my skin feels softer and more hydrated. I highly recommend it, particularly for those with oily, acne-prone, and sensitive skin.
N.B. – Due to its peptide technology, avoid layering with direct acids (like AHAs and BHAs) and Vitamin C. However, it is safe to use with Hyaluronic and Niacinamide Acids.
